Frequently Asked Questions about IVA Institute’s online degree programs, security courses and Krav-Maga/martial arts courses.

 

How do I take my exams?

You will not be taking exams per semester, but assignments, a security course and a Krav-Maga course per year in Israel. This guarantees you the ability to do everything from your home, not needing to travel to our campus only for the security and KMG courses.

 

Are there any academic hours to be completed on campus?

There is no requirement for online students.

 

When can I enroll?

Online students can enroll up to a week before the beginning of the fall and spring semester.

 

Do I need any test to verify my English level?

When taking degrees online, you are required to show IVA Institute that your English language skills are strong enough to complete a degree online. You must have a TOEFL score of 5OOPBT/6l IBT (or an equivalent score in an equivalent English test). Proof that you have either worked or studied in English is also sufficient.

 

What is the minimum number of courses that can be completed per semester?

Online: The standard degree program is organized so that you complete 2 to 3 courses in a semester plus a 12 day security and Krav-Maga course during the year. However, due to the unique methodology of IVA Institute, students can complete more or less courses, depending on their availability to study.

 

Will I need to come to the university to defend my dissertation?

The PhD program is completed fully online, therefore you can defend your dissertation over the internet or while attending the last security or Krav-Maga course in the Academy.

 

What type of grading system does IVA Institute use?

IVA Institute uses the Israeli system for grading, whereby grades range from 0 to 100.

 

What grades must I have to pass each class, and what must my GPA be for graduation?

Qualifying grades for a pass and graduation are as follows:

 

Bachelor's degree:

Course minimum for pass: Almost Good

GPA for graduation: 64-75

Masters degree:

Course minimum for pass: Good

GPA for graduation: 75-84

Doctorate degree:

Course minimum for pass: Good+/Very-Good

GPA for graduation: 80-94

 

How can I graduate with honors?

Students graduating with exceptional GPAs will have the corresponding distinctions added to their diplomas:

  • Cum Laude: GPA between 89 and 91

  • Manga Cum Laude: GPA between 92 and 95

  • Suma Cum Laude: GPA between 96 and 100

 

In most universities and colleges in Israel, any grade below 60 is considered as failure.

In Israeli academic institutions, honors are bestowed upon graduates with 88 or better, with summa cum laude associated with a grade of 95 or higher.

 

The 100-point grading scale is as follows:

  • 95-100 (excellent)

  • 85-94 (very good)

  • 75-84 (good)

  • 65-74 (almost good)

  • 55-64 (sufficient)

  • 45-54 (barely sufficient/usually means failed)

  • <44 (insufficient/failed)

 

Will I have to travel to attend IVA Institute?

Yes, if you will be taking the blended learning course of study. IVA Institute has an online system which is giving all its courses through Internet. That’s why you can take your courses anywhere you wish and you need to attend at IVA Institute only to complete the security course and Krav-Maga course.

 

When can I start courses with IVA Institute?

Our registrations continue all the Academic year.

 

How much time do I have to complete my IVA Degree?

During your education you take your courses. For example, while a regular bachelor’s degree student finishes the education in 3-5 years IVA Institute's students have the chance to complete their courses in 3 years with the flexible credit system while also finishing their professional personal protection and Krav-Maga courses.

 

Do you accept credit transfer from other institutions?

Yes. If you have already finished courses of an academic institution and are able to certify it with a transcript then you can have your credits transferred to your IVA Institute course list.

 

Will I receive a University ID card?

Yes. After you finish all the required documents in order to register to IVA Institute and paid the registration fee you will receive your ID card in a few weeks time.

 

Can students take IVA's courses in a foreign language?

No. IVA's main language is English.

 

Who are the faculty of IVA Institute?

We deliver to you courses required for professionals. This brings the need for academic advisors who are aware of the executive protection and martial art's life. That’s why we are working with a faculty with an experience derived at many private sector companies at high level positions such as manager, director, etc.

 

What kind of facilities do I need for the online studies?

Only a computer and Internet connection is enough to attend IVA Institute online courses.

 

What are the requirements for a Doctorate degree?

The Doctorate Degree represents the culmination of extended academic study into a particular field of knowledge. Every doctoral program should be unified in relation to a clear objective. The normal duration of the Doctorate Degree program for full-time students is 9 semesters (36 months).
